Seventh biennal of canvases, fittings, awnings, machinery, curtains, accessories and textile architecture

29th, 30th and 31th of October, 2008 at the Fira de Cornellà (Barcelona)

IBERTOLDO is celebrating its fifth edition with the clear intention of continuing as the benchmark for solar protection in Spain. Since 1996, IBERTOLDO has become the second most important mono-thematic trade fair in Europe and certainly the most important event in the Spanish market within this sector. In the last two editions, a clear increase in the number of foreign exhibitors has occurred, which undoubtedly places IBERTOLDO in a key position within the international sphere. This surge does not come about by chance, as it reflects the character of the Spanish market, which is dynamic and energetic, with companies with the desire to gain international recognition. As a result, the fair has taken position as the most forward looking market in awnings and solar protection in Europe.

Over the last editions, the sectors represented have multiplied; if we look at the last edition, among the exhibitors we found manufacturers of curtains, fasteners, awnings, fabrics, threads, machinery, specialised software programmes, creeling, textile architecture and it was even possible to see some inventions especially designed for this sector.

The fair will once again take place in the Fira de Cornellà whose main hall has a surface area of 8.300m2.

The organization will, as always, be undertaken by TOLDO magazine. This publication is the oldest Spanish language magazine in the sector (1987) and the one which has acquired the greatest prestige over the years. It is well known to professionals that TOLDO magazine has been, in many ways, a key player in achieving unity and progress in the Spanish solar protection market. Nowadays, having achieved this, TOLDO continues to avail itself to the sector, informing of the most relevant developments within the market and organizing IBERTOLDO, the benchmark event in Spain in solar protection.

THE ORGANIZER

TOLDO magazine is the oldest Spanish language magazine in the sector (1987) and the one which has acquired the greatest prestige over the years It is well known to professionals that TOLDO magazine has been, in many ways, a key player in achieving unity and progress in the Spanish solar protection market. Nowadays, having achieved this, TOLDO continues to avail itself to the sector, informing of the most relevant developments within the market and organizing IBERTOLDO, the benchmark event in Spain in solar protection, and one of the most important monographic meetings world-wide in this field.

This magazine is the leader in its field because:

• It has the largest number of editions a year (six).
• It is the magazine with the largest number of subscribers: 4000 subscribers for each one of the six editions could easily produce a number of readers in excess of 100.000 a year.

THE CURRENT SITUATION OF SOLAR PROTECTION IN SPAIN

A recent study on solar protection in seven European countries, including Spain, shows a very positive outlook for the market in our country.

• The growing decorative function which solar protection elements are acquiring is beginning to leave behind the traditional demand for awnings to protect oneself from the sun.
• The increase in motorization, both for internal and external solar protection.
• The great effort made by companies in innovation, design and modernization both in organization and in their products.
• A market which is growing constantly and with a good outlook for the future.
• A great increase in the number of products which comply with regulations for safety, strength and quality.
• The greater involvement of architects, decorators and other professionals in the burgeoning "awning culture" in our country.
• The sector has matured to a great degree in the last decade.

EVOLUTION

Ibertoldo is a trade fair that has always, right from its origins, responded to the needs of the sector and today it is a true symbol of the symbiosis between the organization, the exhibitors and visitors. It is, therefore, in no way strange that the growth figures for this event stay so high. The area in which this growth has been most notable is in the number of exhibitors which grew 49% between the first and second edition, and 42% between 1998 and 2000. With reference to the number of visitors, the growth between 1996 and 1998 was of 33% and it grew a further 30% in 2000.The number of firms which visited the fair grew 29% between 1996 and 1998, and 20% between 1998 and 2000. The growth of "only" 19% in the last edition, where the stands were concerned, was due to having reached full capacity within the space of the trade fair centre.

Regarding the last edition, the number of visitors again increased beyond those of previous editions, with a total of 7.820, which represents a growth of 16% against 2000. The greatest increase was in the number of visiting companies, as the 1,330 firms which visited the crowded pavillion of the FIRA DE CORNELLÀ represents a 15% growth regarding 2000. The exhibitors and firms represented which filled the trade centre, surpassed the one hundred mark and reached a total of 112, which represents a growth of 36%. The number of firms which have repeated their presence in the current edition is extremely high: 93.3%, which proves a high degree of loyalty to this event. The degree of satisfaction, albeit a subjective value, has been given a mark of maximum satisfaction in 98% of the cases, as was the case in Ibertoldo 2004.
